Coalition says amputee care is inconsistent

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Knoxville-based Amputee Coalition of America says amputee care is not consistent across the country.

The coalition said in a news release that some health care systems do not include inpatient rehab care for amputees.

The coalition board said it has convened a task force of experts to address this and other issues.

The coalition said there are 185,000 amputations in the United States each year and 60 percent of them are preventable.
