THIS WEEK IN EDUCATION NEWS

Last week, the Tennessee Department of Education released A LOT of data, including the results of the 2018-19 state TNReady tests, state accountability metrics and 2019 TVAAS data.

Hamilton County officials gathered outside the Tennessee Aquarium on Wednesday, busting the state embargo, to announce “historic, unprecedented” student achievement.

Hamilton County received the top TVAAS score – a Level 5 – from the state and was ranked #2 in overall student growth last school year.

The district is celebrating 45 Level 5 schools and 32 reward schools, but what does that actually mean for students?

How are Hamilton County students, and their peers across the state actually performing?

The Times Free Press has a breakdown of that data here.
