A 36-year-old man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after police say he fired several shots at his ex-girlfriend on Saturday.
Police say Kevin Halfacre showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s home around 2 a.m. Saturday. The woman told police he was intoxicated and bleeding heavily from his face. He said he had been in a fight.
The woman, Tamara Hendley, said she helped clean up Halfacre’s injuries, but that he later became irate and told her he was leaving to get a gun and come back.
Hendley, her son and her current boyfriend got into a vehicle and left the house. When they returned, Hendley had just gotten out of the car when Halfacre pulled up.
He fired several shots at Hendley, she told police, and then drove away. No one was injured during the altercation, but several neighbors called police to report the gunshots.
Halfacre is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on an at least $150,000 bond. He turned himself in around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, according to the affidavit.
In addition to attempted murder, he is charged with reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.
Halfacre’s local criminal history dates to 1996 and includes a slew of drug and traffic charges, as well as previous charges for assault and domestic assault.
