Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke will help Heil Environmental honor the people who keep the city clean at a Sanitation Worker Appreciation Program 6-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Miller Plaza, 850 Market St.
The family-friendly celebration will feature live music by Thru the Roof, animals to pet from Chattanooga Zoo and the chance to pose for photos with Shrek in front of an antique garbage truck, circa 1949. All kids in attendance will receive a goody bag, as well as get an extra day of mileage out of their Halloween costumes when they “truck-or-treat” at each garbage truck parked along Market Street.
The evening also marks the premiere of a video showing local sanitation workers on the job in various neighborhoods. Visitors will get a chance to operate a Heil truck, learn safety tips and register to win a Chattanooga Night Out prize package. Vendors will have food available for purchase.
Sanitation workers who show a valid work ID will receive a special gift.
Admission is free. For more information, visit www.heil.com.
