The American Legion Unit 190 Ladies Auxiliary invites the community of Dunlap and Sequatchie County to the lobby of the courthouse for the second annual Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans ceremony. It will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m.
At its meeting on March 18, the Sequatchie Valley Historical Association discussed its request to the city for approximately 61 acres that would allow for expansion of the Coke Ovens area. Also discussed was the 14th Annual Bluegrass Festival at Coke Ovens Park in June. Flyers for the event are available at the Chamber office or the Coke Ovens Museum.
The group of individuals that wants to buy Hidden Falls Golf Course met March 16 and discussed the process for moving ahead. Only about 20 percent of the needed money to buy the course has been gathered. Owner Bill Willis agreed to extend the deadline until April 6, giving individuals and local business time to decide upon their involvement. Mr. Willis requested that the charter move ahead at this time or else he’d have no choice except to close the operation and seek ways to utilize the acreage and building and equipment.
