Narcotics detectives in Jackson County, Ala., arrested two people on drug charges in separate incidents this week, according to a news release.
On Wednesday, deputies saw two vehicles parked at a closed business on Alabama Highway 71 in the Rosalie community. When they pulled in to check, one vehicle sped away. The deputies’ drug dog, Tucker, indicated drugs in the second vehicle and deputies found Xanax, Valium and a medicine used for ADHD.
The driver, Tabitha Maynor Helms, 36, of Pisgah, was charged with drug possession. She was booked and released on bond.
The next day, detectives acting on a tip searched a home at 621 Erich Ave. in Bridgeport. They recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a .410-gauge shotgun that had been reported stolen in Tuscaloosa Ala., in 1971.
Richard Morgan Shirley, 54, of Bridgeport was charged with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and receiving stolen property.
