A new face was on the bus Wednesday when the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team departed for the Virginia Duals.
Chase Zemenak has joined the Mocs. While he isn’t expected to wrestle today or Saturday at the Hampton Coliseum, Zemenak will be there when UTC coach Heath Eslinger and a number of the team renew their friendship with former Mocs wrestler and ex-Eslinger assistant Jon Sioredas.
The Mocs open the duals at 9 this morning against Sioredas’ Grand Canyon University team. He’s in his second season leading the program in Phoenix.
“Jon is an awesome person. We’ve talked a couple of times this week,” Eslinger said. “But we talk often, and I enjoy the peer-to-peer relationship we now have. Jon was a go-getter, and it was great to have him here.”
UTC’s next match is at 1 p.m. against Rider.
