* Where: The Meeting Place, 1278 Market St.
* What: This dynamic bistro offers an inspired collection of dishes, such as Steak Frites, which chef/owner Daniel Lindley, a James Beard Award semifinalist, describes as a timeless classic. “Our version is a cut of certified Angus beef top sirloin that is pan-roasted,” he said. “When the steak comes out of the oven, we add a slice of rosemary-dijon compound butter. The potatoes are soaked in cold water overnight in order to remove some of the starch, then blanched in low-temperature oil so that they become tender without picking up any color. To finish, we fry them at a higher temperature so that they are crispy on the outside but very tender on the inside. The fries are served with aioli.”
