An unattended garbage fire in Sale Creek led to the total loss of a barn which was consumed in a blaze Saturday afternoon.
At 3:40 p.m. firefighters responded to the 600 block of Coleman Cemetery Road and found a fully-involved fire which they worked quickly to contain and prevent from spreading to a nearby camper, according to a news release.
Fire officials reported the homeowner was burning garbage and walked back into the house for a moment, but was alerted to the problem when a family member yelled that the barn was on fire.
The barn stored tools and farm equipment and is a total loss.
No injuries were reported.
