Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched just before 6 p.m. tonight to the 4100 block of Hooker Road after visible smoke was reported at a duplex.
A fire was found in the kitchen and extinguished, containing damage to that room. No one was injured in the fire.
The fire was contained to the stove area, fire chief Chris Adams said. Investigators pulled down cabinets to check for additional damage, but Adams believed the home primarily suffered smoke damage.
Four fire companies were dispatched to the fire, according to a release from the Chattanooga Fire Department and investigators say that the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Volunteers from the American Red Cross of Southeast tennessee were also called in to help the people displaced by the fire.
Chattanooga police and HCEMS also provided assistance.
