Meigs baseball coach David Mason suspended

Meigs County High School baseball coach David Mason has been suspended over “allegations” about which officials so far have been tight-lipped.

“There’s been some allegations and [it is] still under investigation, and he is suspended without pay until everything’s complete,” Principal Clint Baker said Monday.

Meigs Director of Schools Don Roberts said Monday afternoon that the investigation and suspension stem from a complaint filed by a parent.

“There was a complaint filed with my office against coach Mason and it was a complaint alleging improper conduct involving an 18-year-old student,” Roberts said.

“The allegation goes against board policy,” which is the basis of the suspension, Roberts said, but he was unsure when the investigation would be concluded.
