Is it spring yet?
It’s that time of year where I’m completely over winter, but winter keeps saying that it isn’t ready to be over. What makes this year different from others – instead of just making me long for the days when I can enjoy the outdoors again – is that winter is now causing mass disruption to our COVID-19 vaccine efforts. This comes as new coronavirus variants make those efforts even more urgent.
So, while you’re patiently waiting for your turn to get vaccinated (and even after you’re vaccinated!), please don’t forget to continue mitigation measures and keep living like we’re in the middle of a raging pandemic, because we are. Although the COVID-19 metrics in Hamilton County look better today than they did three months ago, they’re far from “good.”
On this day in 2020, more than 2,100 people were reported to have died due to the coronavirus worldwide, and more deaths and cases were cropping up outside of mainland China – eight deaths and more than 1,000 had been reported outside of the mainland. The new virus had infected more than 76,000 people.
Stay safe,
