Founding Fathers got concept right
Interesting perspective presented in “Urban voters overpowered at the polls” piece. The author claims “rural bias” in the Electoral College.
“… populous states subsidize less populous ones ….” The other side of that is rural voters (producers) supply the tax dollars for the urban welfare recipients (takers), thus the “subsidizing” goes both ways.
If the author is correct, that the rural voter has undue strength against the urban voter because of the Electoral College, I say the Founding Fathers were wise beyond their time. The “checks and balances” of our republic are what continue to keep us strong… and maybe what will make us “great again.”
It’s the rural voter/property owner who has been supporting the welfare state, and we’ve had enough. Thank God for divine inspiration of the Founding Fathers in their design of our republic and the Electoral College.
