Former Baylor School and UTC golfer Stephan Jaeger finished 28th last year on the Web.com Tour, earning $147,024 but just missing out on a top-25 finish and the reward of a PGA Tour card for this year.
After winning last weekend’s rain-shortened BMW Charity Pro-Am in Greenville, S.C., and pocketing the $126,000 check, Jaeger vaulted to No. 7 on the Web.com money list with $138,235. He was a guest Monday of “Press Row” on Chattanooga’s ESPN 105.1 FM.
Q: When you shot the 65 on Saturday and took the one-stroke lead, did you know you had the chance to win if Mother Nature took over?
A: “I didn’t think about it during the round, but a reporter asked me about that afterward. In my mind, I thought about doing some rain dances that night, but you just never know with the weather. It could have said 100 percent rain the night before, and the next day you’re playing.
“I was excited about having the lead and was excited going into Sunday, but we didn’t get to play, which I’m not too mad about.”
