The Chattanooga Lookouts entered Wednesday night’s game at AT&T Field seeking their fifth consecutive victory.

Mobile was too tough out of the gate.

The BayBears racked up five runs before the Lookouts came to the plate and held on for a 7-5 win before an announced crowd of 1,524. Chattanooga dropped to 32-26 and is three games behind Montgomery, which leads the Southern League’s North Division with a 35-23 record.

Brandon Sandoval’s two-run single to center field, Roberto Baldoquin’s two-run double to left and an RBI single to center by Connor Justus provided the BayBears their 5-0 lead. Chattanooga could only answer with one run during its half of the first inning, with that occurring on Taylor Trammell’s RBI single to right.

Mobile took its largest lead at 7-1 in the fifth inning on RBI singles to center by Justus and Erick Salcedo.

The Lookouts made it a 7-3 game in the eighth on a Trammell sacrifice to center and on Gavin LaValley’s RBI single to left. Chattanooga scored two more runs in the ninth, benefiting from a BayBears fielding error, but Mobile relief pitcher Ryan Clark struck out Chris Okey with the bases loaded.
