PORTLAND, Ore. – Rae Burrell and Jordan Horston combined for 41 points on 18-of-25 shooting, and Rennia Davis had a double-double as the No. 23 Tennessee women bounced back three days after a lopsided loss to top-ranked Stanford by defeating Portland State 88-61 on Saturday.

Burrell made 10 of 13 shots to score a career-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in just 22 minutes off the bench, and Horston shot 8-for-12 for a career-high 20 points. Davis scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and grabbed a season-high 13 rebounds for her 24th double-double with the Lady Volunteers.

Chattanooga’s Jazmine Massengill, the former Hamilton Heights Christian Academy standout, led Tennessee in assists with 10. That’s a career high for the sophomore, and it was more than the Lady Vols had as a team in the blowout at Stanford.

Tennessee (9-2) shot 51%, going 6-for-13 from 3-point range, and had a 56-26 rebounding advantage.

Kylie Jimenez had 15 points and Desirae Hansen 10 for the Vikings (6-4), and Jordan Stotler blocked nine shots to tie the program record. Portland State shot only 32%, though, going 12-of-30 from 3-point range and 7-of-30 inside the arc.

Portland State was up 19-18 after one quarter, but the Lady Vols raced back to lead 40-26 at halftime. Tennessee blew the game open with a 25-9 advantage in the third quarter, shooting 10-for-18 in the period as the Vikings went 2-for-14.

Tennessee hosts Howard on Dec. 29 before opening its Southeastern Conference schedule against Missouri on Jan. 2, also in Knoxville.
