Frustration over job-killing rules

The frustration that businesses are feeling over crippling levels of federal regulation boiled over in anger during a recent meeting between an Obama administration official and manufacturing executives.

White House Chief of Staff William Daley attended a Washington meeting of hundreds of heads of manufacturing companies from around the country. Daley’s attendance at the meeting was supposed to show that the Obama administration is “business-friendly.”

But the business leaders didn’t see it that way.

“One by one, exasperated executives stood to air their grievances on environmental regulations and stalled free-trade deals,” The Washington Post reported.

Things got especially heated when a utility executive from Massachusetts, “his voice shaking with emotion, accused the administration of blocking construction on one of his facilities to protect fish, saying government ‘throws sand into the gears of progress.'”
