Lakelyn Bouldin, who will be a senior this year at Van Buren County High School in nearby Spencer, is ready for bigger cities and new experiences.
Joining the women’s basketball program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will provide both.
Bouldin, a 5-foot-7 guard, recently committed to continue her playing career at UTC. She’s the Mocs’ first committed player for the 2016-17 season and will join Clemson transfer Shelbie Davenport as potential new players in the rotation. Davenport is already on campus, but she won’t be eligible to play this season due to transfer rules.
Bouldin was a Class A Miss Basketball finalist during her junior season, averaging 23 points, four rebounds, three assists and 2.7 steals. She helped the Lady Eagles to a 28-5 record as they reached the Class A state sectional.
She’s expected to play point guard at UTC. The Mocs have only one senior on their roster for 2015-16, Alicia Payne, who was the Southern Conference’s defensive player of the year last season.
