Elixir Hair Studio in downtown Chickamauga is bringing stylish flair to the historic city.

Studio owners Carrie Powell and Holly Elliott gave away two free makeovers over the holidays. Powell gave her free makeover to winner Rachael Clay, of Chickamauga. Elliott gave her free makeover to Lisa Leaman, of East Brainerd.

“For the makeovers we had a Facebook contest,” Powell said. “The contest involved liking and sharing the Elixir Hair Studio page and commenting on the post. Twenty-plus people entered the contest. I picked a winner and Holly picked a winner. Both were very deserving women who both received a color and a cut. We did their makeup also. Both have children and don’t take time for themselves.”

Powell formerly worked at Bella Mi, and Elliott at Strandz. They decided to branch out on their own and started Elixir in the fall, in the space that formerly housed the boutique Ali and Company.
