Generosity, the United Way

We know of no community anywhere in the world that has equaled the long and admirable record of Chattanooga in voluntarily meeting the health and welfare needs of our people through annual volunteer fundraising campaigns, especially through our United Way.

Chattanoogans have an enviable 88-year record of having our United Way and its predecessor organizations achieve our community welfare goals – and we are enthusiastically looking toward our 89th success this year.

With the United Way seeking to raise $11.8 million this year to help uplift the down-and-out and serve the up-and-coming, our good citizens have pledged $9.8 million – so far. There’s still need – and still time to give!

This year’s United Way volunteer campaign chairman is Dr. Bill Stacy. He and his big team of volunteer United Way workers are eagerly seeking to make it convenient and efficient for our numerous United Way member agencies to be adequately financed to serve our people and our social service needs throughout the coming year.

We take great pleasure in congratulating the thousands of generous United Way givers and campaign workers, and we encourage all others to join in this commendable effort to serve our people and our whole community beneficially.
