A Hamblen County man accused of two counts of child rape is on the run from the Moccasin Bend mental health institute.

The Chattanooga Police Department said in a release Sunday that Robert Shawn Harris, 37, was on a law enforcement hold from Hamblen County and should be considered dangerous. The release said CDP was helping Moccasin Bend officials search for Harris. It didn’t say how long he’d been at the hospital or when he got away.

This isn’t Harris’ first time to flee the law. The Bull’s Gap, Tenn., man left the state after the child rape charges were levied and was arrested in July in Perry, Okla. He also has theft charges pending in Morristown, Tenn., according to WATE.com.

Harris is a white male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 180 to 200 pounds. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He also has a full beard

Anyone who sees Harris is asked to call 911.
