Celebrate winter solstice and brave the freezing waters of Lula Lake when Lula Lake Land Trust holds its annual polar plunge on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 21.
This is the only day of the year that the Trust allows the public to swim in Lula Lake. Guests will be helped to the launching point at the lake for a countdown. Then they’ll jump into the “cleansing water” to rid themselves of any lingering bad luck built up this year so that 2020 arrives with expectations of good luck in the new year.
Both daring plungers and spectators are welcome. Chili, beer, warm beverages and soda will be available for purchase. The Trust’s hiking trails will be open between noon and 4 p.m.
Ticket proceeds benefit Lula Lake Land Trust and its conservation initiatives such as ongoing trail maintenance, educational programs and providing Open Gate Days to the public. Lula Lake Land Trust protects and preserves the natural beauty within the Rock Creek watershed.
