* Name: Kathie Fulgham
* Job Title: Projects manager
* Location: Office of Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield
* First job: Worked at Texas A&M University as a writer in its public relations department
* Favorite part of job: “The variety of the projects. So many of them help the community.”
* Worst part of job: Learning mail merge.
* Special rewards: “It depends on the projects. One, like GoFest, having thousands of people show up at that event and enjoy the day, no matter what their ability is – it helps people appreciate how everyone lives – it takes away the stigma of what different abilities are. Each project has to do with helping people.”
* Best advice: “Teamwork is the most important aspect of what I do. I don’t ever work alone. There are lots of other people who take on leadership roles to make projects happen. Play team sports. Learn what it means to work on a team. Whatever you’re doing, it has to move the ball down the field.”
* Making a career of it: “Know a little bit about a lot of different things.” Do a lot of volunteering and community service. Know how to write effectively. Take classes outside your major.
