Rhetta Yates is joining forces with Mountain Market to offer home delivery for hot meals, pizza and groceries, starting Oct. 1 with Mountain Market on Wheels.
“The Mountain Market has gotten settled and they are ready to move into the next step, which is a delivery service,” said Yates, who worked from home for the last five years preparing and delivering meals to the elderly and sick on Lookout Mountain through her business, Rhetta’s Etc. Etc. Etc. “It had gotten to where I couldn’t handle it all myself, so that’s why I came to the market.”
In addition to Yates’ catered meals, the Mountain Market will provide delivery of its own inventory items, as well as other other possible merchandise.
“If it is something we don’t stock, as long as they’re not in a hurry, we’ll get what they want,” said Gene Williams, owner of Mountain Market. “Everything we do here – deli, pizza, catering and groceries – we want to be able to take to them.”
Yates said the new delivery service will start Oct. 1. The week prior, Mountain Market on Wheels’ first monthly menu calendar will be sent to all Lookout Mountain, Georgia and Tennessee, residents.
Each day, the menu will feature a main entrée with a few sides as well as soup served with a roll or cornbread. Orders must be made before noon and delivery service will start at 4 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. every day.
Yates said there is no additional charge for delivery, but tips will be accepted.
“The menu’s going to go from fried chicken to fried and grilled fish and even prime rib,” Yates said. “We’ll have extra food cooked for walk-ins. I think it’s going to be a real asset. There are many seniors up here on the mountain that really need those meals.”
Each meal will be priced from $10.99 to $16.99, depending on the entrée, and customers can get a discounted price for a packet of three or five meals each week. Even if they don’t need a hot meal, groceries from Mountain Market are also available for delivery.
