An elected official said this week that there are two battles in handling coronavirus: there’s fighting the virus itself and there’s managing the economic and social consequences of the protective measures.
How local leaders weigh those factors will affect every member of our community for years to come.
As I have written before, I serve two equally important roles in this: explaining the decisions of elected officials to citizens and explaining citizens’ voices to elected officials. Right now, the latter is as important as ever.
As the people in charge decide when and how to “reopen” the economy, I will obviously report those choices. But I also appreciate and will continue to tell the stories of those affected financially and/or those who are apprehensive about returning to “normalcy,” because your voices are vital and need to be considered by those steering the ship.
As always, my work stands to represent and inform residents, so please reach out if you have a story that needs to be told or questions that need to be answered.
