The Hamilton County Baptist Association is shrinking its footprint but not changing its outreach to its 102 member congregations.

The organization, which built and occupied a 5,700-square-foot North Market Street building in 1974, will move next week to a 1,610-square-foot wing in the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home on Lee Highway.

“It’s a win-win situation,” said director of mission Dr. David Myers. “It’s a good situation [for] them and us.”

The Baptist Association board of directors also has reached an agreement to sell its building to an undisclosed buyer for “97 percent of its appraised price,” he said, but the sale will not be final until later this month.

Myers said the organization no longer needs the space nor the 11 full-time employees it once had. It now has two full-time employees and two part-time employees, he said.
