DAYTON, Tenn. – Frazier Elementary School in Dayton received its first-ever Blue Ribbon Schools Award nomination last week from the state Department of Education.
“We didn’t know anything about it,” principal Gayle Kelly said, until state education officials called to arrange a tour of the school.
Then icy and snowy weather last month delayed the tour, she said.
She said the nomination is a “prestigious honor” and attributed it to the teachers’ hard work in caring for children’s specific educational needs.
Kelly also complimented her “supportive staff,” including lead custodian Leroy Daniels.
