Firefighters believe weekend fire accidental

A Saturday fire that sent one man to the hospital is believed to be accidental, fire investigators say.

Darrell Caylor, 39, woke to flames near his oxygen machine in the 7852 Old Cleveland Pike home. Caylor got out of the house, using his oxygen machine to breath but re-entered the home when he saw his dog go back inside.

At that point Caylor breathed in smoke and barely made it out of the burning home, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department release.

He was transported to Erlanger Hospital and then to a burn unit in Augusta, Ga. later discharged and returned to Erlanger for treatment.

The dog was outside when firefighters arrived, hiding under a shed.
