‘Generosity’ stupid, bogus
Would E.J. Dionne (June 17) admit sometimes government and regulations cause problems, as when a hair-braider was to told take 2,000 classroom hours of cosmetology training not one minute of which would teach her to braid hair? (www.ij.org). Admit the hair-braiders’ union was using government to block competition? Admit this was evil, greedy and governmental?
Will the Times and Clay Bennett admit the same?
The Constitution allows the government to regulate copyright, bankruptcy and privately owned warships. It does not mention education. So the “No Child Left Behind” act Dionne liked is constitutionally bogus; so’s the Department of Education.
So are ObamaCare and Medicare. Health is person-by-person. Promise smokers that nonsmokers will pay their medical bills? No wonder there’s a budget deficit. Promise fat people skinny people will pay their bills, fornicators that “chastitutes” will pay? Penalize marriage? And call this “generosity … in our laws”? Such “generosity” is both stupid – paying people to do stupid, expensive, attractive things – and bogus.
When Obama gave away his Nobel Prize money, he was generous; but when he gives away our tax dollars, he’s like Jefferson Davis giving away money his slaves had earned. Bogus. When Jesus Christ died for our sins, He was generous.
