Two Chattanooga homes fire bombed

Two Chattanooga homes were fire bombed around midnight in East Chattanooga, and investigators are working to find those responsible.

The victims are both in gangs, and the suspects are also believed to be in gangs, but police spokesman Kyle Miller could not say whether the attack was gang-motivated.

“We will assist to track down any leads of gang relation or retaliation,” Miller said.

The first attack took place a few minutes before midnight at 6302 Talledega Ave. Someone threw an incendiary device at a window of the house, but though it cracked the window, it bounced off and landed in the yard.

The second attack took place at 2711 Curtis Street just after midnight, according to the fire department.

This time the fire bomb made it through the window, landing in the kitchen/dining area of the home. But firefighters put out the fire.

No one was injured in either attack.

“The investigation so far indicates that the two houses were not targeted randomly,” the fire department reported in a news release. “

Captain Henry McElvain said both incidents appear to be gang-related. Chattanooga Police are assisting with the investigation.
