As American troops are painfully engaged in difficult military operations in distant Afghanistan, there came a fresh and sickening reminder of the nature of the enemies that U.S. soldiers and the people there face.
The terrorist Taliban used a 12-year-old boy as a suicide bomber. He blew himself up in a public market, killing four innocent civilians and wounding 12 others, indiscriminately.
What a vicious, murderous act!
What did it accomplish for the Taliban? The attack was against ordinary people, not against opposing soldiers!
It is almost impossible for us to understand the mentality of people who would perpetrate such an atrocity. We need to realize the kind of enemies Americans and our allies face.
