East Lake Elementary principal Stacy Johnson will remain on staff following a domestic assault arrest pending the case’s final outcome, according to Hamilton County schools.
Johnson, who is going through a divorce with her husband, allegedly kicked him in the leg shortly before midnight on Tuesday at their Signal Mountain home, according to a report from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
Johnson “complied with board policy and notified the district that she had been arrested,” said Hamilton County schools spokeswoman Danielle Clark in a release.
“After discussing the situation with Ms. Johnson and her attorney, district administrators found that the situation had nothing to do with her professional capacity, nor her ability to successfully work with teachers and students,” the release states. “As such, this is a personal situation. Ms. Johnson remains in active status pending the outcome of legal proceedings.”
Johnson made her $500 bond shortly after being arrested, according to the Hamilton County Jail.
