Man faces rape charge

A 47-year-old man faces a Thursday court date for charges in connection with the reported rape and kidnapping of a 43-year-old woman.

Police arrested Anthony Peter Vance on Thursday after a woman said she had been dragged into 1010 Central Ave., an abandoned business, “struck on the head with a beer bottle,” punched multiple times by her attacker, then raped, according to a police report.

At about 11:20 p.m., Chattanooga police met with the woman at 702 Central Ave. and gathered information about the suspect.

They found Vance inside 1010 Central Ave., police said. Vance told police he had beat the woman and would do so again, the report said.

A crime scene investigator found hair and blood inside the building during a search.

The woman was taken to Erlanger hospital. She was unable to make further statements at the time because she was being medicated for treatment, according to the report.

Vance was being held Friday in the Hamilton County Jail. According to court documents, he has faced nearly 80 separate criminal charges in Hamilton County dating back to 1993, including two rape charges, four aggravated burglary charges and one aggravated robbery charge. One rape charge was dismissed. He pleaded guilty to the other rape in 1997 and served a year in the county workhouse.

Oct. 17 crash claims 2nd victim

The second victim of an Oct. 17 head-on collision on Jenkins Road died Friday morning, less than 48 hours after her husband succumbed to his injuries, Chattanooga police said.

Marjorie Millirons died at a local hospital, police said. Her husband, Charles Millirons, 76, died Wednesday.

Police department spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Royval said an investigation is continuing into the crash, which involved the Millironses and a 16-year-old Chattanooga girl.

According to police reports, the Millironses’ pickup truck was traveling north on Jenkins Road when it collided head-on with a southbound Toyota 4Runner that had crossed into its lane. The Toyota was being driven by the teen.
