Perhaps the most surprising thing about Lanter’s 2011 season is that she played the early portion of it on one leg after an injury during club season. The knee injury eventually got better, and with that returned the speed and leg power that made her such a threat in seasons past. After the slow start, Lanter finished with 32 goals and five assists and helped the Lady Trojans to the Class AAA state semifinals, where they were humbled by eventual state champion Franklin, who was ranked No. 2 in the final fall ESPN poll.
