There will be several new public officials – chosen by the voters – serving us in a number of public offices in 2011 and beyond. Notable among them are Bill Haslam, who will be Tennessee’s new governor, and Chuck Fleischmann, who will be Tennessee’s new 3rd District member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
There is every prospect that the new governor will be a fine state leader, as outgoing Gov. Phil Bredesen has been.
And there are reasons to expect that Fleischmann will do a good job in Congress, as outgoing Congressman Zach Wamp has done.
The new governor and new congressman, and other new officials, will have major challenges to face, with limited financial means to meet and overcome those challenges.
We commend them, encourage them and wish them well.
