Bachman adds operations director

Many faces pass through the doors of Bachman Community Center each day, from artists to dancers to exercise enthusiasts. And, the visage of new Operations Director Liz Hickman will now serve as a constant presence at the community hub.

After starting the job in late November, Hickman has had time to settle in and has become a familiar face to the center’s many regulars.

She said her favorite part of the job is the opportunity it presents to meet so many different people, as Bachman is used by a large number of groups with widely varied interests.

“I like that there’s a space available that anyone can come and use,” said Hickman, a Signal Mountain resident who was previously a stay-at-home mom with a small jewelry business. She could also frequently be found volunteering or substitute teaching at Signal Mountain Middle/High School.

Bachman was previously operated solely by an executive director, but that position’s duties were divided between two part-time employees: Ashley Zimmerman handles marketing and grant writing, and Hickman controls the day-to-day aspects of running the center, oversees building tenants and manages programs such as the center’s popular summer camps.
