KNOXVILLE — Tennessee officially announced the addition of forward Willie Carmichael on Tuesday morning, a little more than 12 hours after the former Southern Mississippi signee announced he would reunite with coach Donnie Tyndall, the Volunteers’ new coach.
The 6-foot-7 forward out of Wekiva High School near Orlando in Florida was the player to sign with Tennessee on Tuesday after fellow former Southern Miss signee Devon Baulkman and IUPUI transfer Ian Chiles. Tyndall has added seven players since taking the Tennessee job on April 22.
When he signed him at Southern Miss in November, Tyndall said Carmichael reminded him “of a young Kenneth Faried, in that he plays extremely hard.”
Carmichael is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com.
