LOOKOUTS 9, BRAVES 2

Saturday’s road recap: Samir Duenez went 4-for-5 with an RBI, and Michael Beltre and Calten Daal each had two hits and drove in two runs as Chattanooga collected 14 hits – all singles – to earn its fifth straight win and sixth in the past seven games. Duenez’s RBI single came in the first, Johendi Jiminian’s sacrifice bunt scored Beltre in the second and the Lookouts led 5-0 after 2 1/2 innings thanks to Daal’s single that drove in Gavin LaValley and Duenez and a pair of errors that allowed Daal to score on the play. Mississippi ended the shutout with Connor Lien’s RBI double in the fifth, but the Lookouts still had their biggest inning ahead, scoring four runs in the eighth, with the final two driven in by Beltre. Chattanooga starter Johendí Jiminian scattered seven hits across as many innings, striking out nine Braves and walking none. The Lookouts improved to 25-40 in the second half and 61-73 overall this Southern League season; the Braves are 29-39, 62-75.

Next up: Game four of a five-game series in Pearl, Mississippi, is Sunday night at 7:05 EDT.

Pitchers: Reiver Sanmartin (2-7, 4.58) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Nolan Kingham (1-3, 4.39) scheduled for the Braves.
