Bob Hunnicutt, founder and executive director of the Georgia Ghost Society, will join the author of “Haunted Dalton, Georgia,” Connie Hall-Scott, for a Haunts & Scandals Pub Crawl in Dalton on Friday, April 1.
A Dalton Ghost Tours event, the pub crawl is set to embark at 8 p.m. from Hamilton’s Pizzeria, 243 N. Hamilton St.
“We will visit some of Dalton’s most notorious locations,” says Hall-Scott. “This includes a former speakeasy where a questionable accident took the life of a gentleman who now – according to the current owner of the location – haunts the building, sometimes playing tricks on those on-site.
“We’ll talk about not only several other reportedly haunted places but about some of our city’s scandals,” she adds. “From the dashing scoundrel Walter Bohannon, who charmed the high-society ladies of his time and organized train robberies, to more modern shenanigans, we have a lot to cover.”
From the pizzeria, pub crawlers will visit one more pub before ending up at Dalton Distillery, 109 E. Morris St.
Hall-Scott says a group of paranormal researchers known as the Atlanta Ghost Girls visited the distillery last December and collected “some very interesting evidence of ghostly activity. That evidence consisted of anomalies captured on video, EVPs captured on audio and an unmanned flashlight turning on and off on command.”
For Hunnicutt, a resident of Atlanta, the journey into the world of ghosts and hauntings began in 1976 when an experience at an Arizona theater changed his beliefs in the existence of the paranormal and supernatural.
“It clearly revealed that science can’t always adequately explain everything,” Hunnicutt says. “I have since investigated cases of unexplained phenomena associated with a variety of hauntings at private residences, businesses and historical landmarks throughout the state of Georgia, the Southeast and portions of the Midwest.”
Often referred to as the “Paranormal Southern Gentleman,” Hunnicutt appears regularly at local colleges and paranormal conferences speaking about commonsense ghost hunting and investigation of paranormal activity.
