Tears dotted Betty White’s cheek today as more than 3,000 people sang her off the stage at the Chattanooga Convention Center with “Thank You For Being a Friend,” theme song of “The Golden Girls.”
White was the featured guest at Life: An Expo for Boomers and Seniors, sponsored by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
She spent about an hour on this afternoon stage answering questions posed by former Miss Tennessee Stefanie Whittler of Soddy-Daisy and by members of the audience.
In a Times Free Press interview earlier today, White said that she had never been to Chattanooga or Tennessee, but that she was touched by the reception she had received here.
“That Southern hospitality thing isn’t just a rumor,” she said.
