Already owning a berth in the NAIA Division II national tournament as the regular-season champion, the Tennessee Wesleyan College women’s basketball team added the Appalachian Athletic Conference tournament title Saturday with a 69-43 whipping of Milligan at Kingsport, Tenn.

Seventh-seeded Milligan (14-18) had beat the second- and third-seeded teams to reach the final but was no match for the nationally 10th-ranked top seeds. AAC player of the year Jenna Adams had 31 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs (28-3) and was the tournament MVP, while fellow All-AAC first-teamers Armeka Booker and Shira Buley also starred Saturday. Booker had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Buley had 11 assists with 10 points.

Adams made seven of 14 3-point shots. TWC shot 49.1 percent as a team; the Lady Buffs shot 30 percent.

* At Dalton, Ga., the NAIA’s sixth-ranked Dalton State Roadrunners sewed up the Southern States regular-season championship with a 64-43 win over Brewton-Parker, after leading 35-15 at halftime.

Jamaine Burrey scored 14 points in 15:27 of playing time and Dylan Smith had 12 points in a little more than 20 minutes. Dalton State will play Thursday in the quarterfinals of the SSAC tournament in Montgomery, Ala.

* At Cleveland, Tenn., Shelby Brown’s 3-point shot with 4.7 seconds to go gave the Lee University Lady Flames a 64-61 Gulf South victory over visiting Shorter as the regular season ended. Lee then won the men’s game 98-92 in overtime, as Chase Cullen and Cory Billingsley scored 19 points apiece, Cullen with 10 rebounds, and Elgrin Wilson and Jervon Johnson added 14 points each. Johnson was 4-of-6 on 3s.

Erin Walsh scored 22 points and Brown added 15, each with three 3s, for the Lady Flames (18-8, 14-8), and Brown also grabbed 10 rebounds. Ieshia Alexander scored 25 points for Shoter.
