WARTBURG, Tenn. – The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy says a Japanese company is donating a 500-watt wind turbine to Morgan County Career and Technical Center.
The alliance says it’s the first turbine in this country by A-Wing International.
The alliance provides outreach on behalf of the project through a partnership with the Appalachian Regional Commission, Tennessee Technical University and the tech center.
The company will evaluate its usage. The school will collect the generation data from a data logger and send the information back to the company.
Students will be able to see how much energy the turbine generates and learn about its development.
Students in MCCTC’s high school welding program will construct a tower for the turbine this fall.
