Your Tuesday at a glance:
- Weather: Partly cloudy with a high of 88.
- What’s heartwarming: Chattanooga refugee families gathered this weekend for portraits at Riverfront Park in an initiative to increase their connection to the outdoors and the community.
- What we’re eating: Our food writer Anne Braly checked out the new The Juicy Crab restaurant. Here’s what she thought of what the seafood place has to offer.
- What we’re excited for: Fall! Check out these pictures from Collegedale as the city got a head start on the season with a fall festival last weekend.
Good morning, Chattanooga!
When I was in the eighth grade, I picked up a violin for the first time. I’ve never been great by any definition of the word, but I was grateful to engage with the language of music in free classes at school for a few years.
Exposure to music at all ages – but especially as a kid – seems to be one of the guiding principles of the Songbirds Foundation, which will be reopening in the old Songbirds Guitar Museum after its doors closed last year.
The main mission of the foundation is a program called Guitars for Kids. For every $100 raised, one kid can get a guitar and free lessons.
