The field is complete for Hamilton County primary elections on May 1 after the qualifying deadline passed at noon Thursday.

A last-minute addition in the Circuit Court Division 4 race was Timothy A. Deere, an attorney on Signal Mountain, who qualified Thursday as the only Democrat in the race. He will face the winner of the May 1 Republican primary between appointed incumbent Kyle Hedrick and Catherine “Cate” White in the Aug. 2 general election. Candidate Joe DeGaetano dropped his bid and endorsed Hedrick this week.

Another last-minute qualifier is Aloyse Brown, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for Hamilton County mayor. She faces George Ryan Love in the primary, and the winner will face Republican incumbent Jim Coppinger in August. Perennial candidate Basil Marceaux, who had picked up papers as a Republican, failed to qualify.

Sheriff Jim Hammond is unopposed in the Republican primary and faces Democratic challenger Victor Miller.

Three Republicans are vying for the nomination for register of deeds with the retirement of incumbent Pam Hurst: Marc Gravitt, who is not seeking re-election to his state House District 30 seat; Randy G. Johnson, and Sheldon Wright, Hurst’s deputy clerk. The winner will face Democrat Vickie Shroyer.
