Montgomery downs Lookouts, 9-2

Chattanooga starting pitcher Jesus Castillo allowed eight runs on 11 hits in six innings as a five-game winning streak for the Lookouts ended abruptly with a 9-2 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits on Sunday.

The Lookouts slipped to 26-29 and trail Tennessee (36-20) by 9.5 games with 15 games remaining in the second-half race, and they are 59-65 overall, which trails West Tenn (65-60) by 5.5 games in the wild-card race.

Castillo hit Shawn O’Malley with the bases loaded in the second inning to provide Mobile a 1-0 lead, and a two-run home run to left by Nevin Ashley enabled the BayBears to take a 3-0 lead in the third.

Mobile doubled its advantage to 6-0 in the fourth on RBIs by Emeel Salem, Jose Ruiz and Ashley. It was 9-1 in the ninth when Jerry Sands homered to left-center, his 14th homer with the Lookouts.

The Lookouts and Mobile will begin a four-game series at AT&T Field today with a doubleheader, with the first seven-inning game scheduled for 5:15.

Alberto Bastardo (6-3, 4.68) is scheduled to start for the Lookouts, with Wade Miley (4-1, 2.24) scheduled for the BayBears.
