Everybody knows from early school days that “in fourteen hundred and ninety-two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue” in his effort to find a route from Europe to India – but wound up “discovering America.”
But now, in 2010, replicas of the Nina and Pinta (though not the Santa Maria) are in Chattanooga until Nov. 3, docked along our Tennessee River. It’s a sight to see from river banks and our bridges. And some Chattanoogans and out-of-town visitors will eagerly pay for a tour of the boats.
This is just one more of many attractive things occurring in and around our downtown Chattanooga.
