Wintry mix inbound

Whether it’s snow, sleet or slush, the weather in Chattanooga this weekend won’t be pretty.

Local meteorologists say the forecast here is tricky, since a couple of degrees in either direction could change the conditions. WTVC NewsChannel 9 forecaster David Glenn said Chattanooga is in a borderline situation.

“We will be watching it very carefully, because one or two degrees in temperature could make a difference,” he said.

The bulk of the moisture will come in later today and into the evening, Mr. Glenn said.

But in the event the cold front and its accompanying precipitation comes earlier than expected, workers with Chattanooga’s public works department pretreated bridges, overpasses and main roads Thursday with a salt brine mixture to ensure safe passage for drivers today.
