Judge Jon Blackwood has denied a motion to reconsider his decision to kick a TWRA case back to General Sessions Court to be heard by a different judge.
Allegations had been made last year of judge shopping within Hamilton County General Sessions Court, especially in regard to TWRA cases that seem to be heard mostly by two of the five judges of the court.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency enforces laws concerning hunting, boating and fishing activities.
Judge Blackwood harshly criticized the TWRA’s practice of funneling their cases to certain judges in a hearing earlier in the month, but did not go so far as to completely drop the case against a man who was cited by the TWRA for boating under the influence.
Jerry Summers, the man’s attorney, had argued that the case needed to be dropped because of the judge shopping practice at the General Sessions level.
