Work will begin on Sept. 5 on the long-awaited Exit 1 interchange reconfiguration along Interstate 75 in East Ridge.
The project will allow northbound traffic exiting on to Ringgold Road easier access to the new Jordan Crossing shopping complex as well as Camp Jordan Park, according to a news release from East Ridge city officials.
The newly configured exit ramps will combine both northbound exits – 1A and 1B – into one, which will allow drivers to turn both east and west on Ringgold Road. Phase One, which will combine both exit ramps and access to Jordan Crossing and Camp Jordan Park as well as an altered northbound entrance ramp to I-75, is slated for a preliminary opening of Nov. 30.
Traffic in the area of Exit 1 will be congested during construction, officials said. Construction is expected to wrap up in May.
