Walks again led to trouble in a baseball game.

Two bases on balls beginning the 11th inning Saturday night set up the winning run for the Montgomery Biscuits in their Southern League North Division playoff series against the Chattanooga Lookouts at AT&T Field. Dayron Varona’s third hit of the night put the Biscuits ahead 6-5, and that held up as the score that evened the series at one win apiece in the best-of-five format.

The teams play games three and four tonight and Monday in Montgomery.

Chattanoga jumped ahead Saturday with a three-run first inning featuring singles by Jorge Polanco, Travis Harrison and D.J. Hicks and a double by Adam Brett Walker II.

Montgomery scored one in the third, when Leonardo Reginatto led off with a single, moved to third on a Jake DePew ground-rule double and came home on Juniel Querecuto’s sacrifice fly. The same group helpd the Biscuits get even in the seventh, which – yes – started with two walks. DePew sacrificed Jake Bauers and Reginatto to third and second, and both scored on Querecuto’s single to center field.

The Biscuits took control with two runs in the top of the 10th. An error preceded a Varona single, and Daniel Robertson tripled both runners home.

But the Lookouts responded, scoring two of their own when Polanco followed a Shannon Wilkerson leadoff walk with a home run off Mark Sappington. Then came the 11th, when new pitcher Brandon Peterson walked Tyler Goeddel and Patrick Leonard and Thomas Coyle bunted them up forward to set up Varona’s go-ahead RBI.

Jeff Ames pitched a perfect 11th inning to get the save.
